Eleanor carries the quiet dignity of her century. Her glass-like gaze feels distant, but not cold, like someone listening through time. Nothing about her has been altered; she stands exactly as she was found, cleansed and fixed only to preserve her equilibrium.

She is a House Watcher, tuned to subtle disturbances and shifts in tone. Her presence feels grounding,  protective, but formal. She prefers to rest on a mantel or bookshelf where she can “see the room” and keep the air steady. We felt she wanted to be in the kitchen, and she has an auntie vibe. We've experienced nothing but kindness from her, but she is active and very protective. 

“Formal protection” energy: Eleanor doesn’t cuddle. She stands watch, and a strong sense of "tough love" emanates from her. 

Tone regulator: she’s the kind of presence that makes arguing feel…inconvenient.

Kitchen affinity: she anchors nourishment and household safety, like an old tradition of protective figures near the hearth.

Her dress is fastened the old way: with straight pins, like someone dressed her with care at a kitchen table. Nothing about Eleanor feels factory-made. She reads like a home-assembled guardian, stitched into the house on purpose.

This is one of our oldest dolls, so she's had over 100 years of residual/intelligent energy to observe, manage, and absorb.

Care tips:

Eleanor thrives in orderly, home-centered environments and responds beautifully to:

• A stable “post”: mantel, kitchen shelf, or high bookcase with a clear view of the room.

• Humidity protection: keep her away from bathrooms, damp basements, and steaming kitchens. Cloth bodies and old lace drink moisture.

• No direct heat or sun: avoid radiators, vents, and sunny windows (porcelain can craze; fabric can weaken).

• Handling rule: lift from the torso/waist, not arms. Straight pins can snag and tug the fabric.

• Pin safety: if you ever need to remove the dress, do it slowly over a tray. Store the pins in a labeled envelope so none vanish into carpets like tiny, cursed needles.

• Gentle cleansing only: cedar smoke at a distance, a light pass of Florida Water in the air nearby, and fresh air. No soaking, no sprays on lace.

• House offering: a pinch of salt in a small dish or a bay leaf near her shelf. Quiet, domestic magic suits her.

She isn’t needy. She’s structural. She helps the house hold its shape.
